Meet Dr. Dennis Flanagan (Retired)
After more than 30 years of serving the Rockford community, Dr. Dennis Flanagan has retired from the practice of orthodontics. Throughout his career, he earned the trust of generations of families by providing exceptional orthodontic care with compassion, integrity, and a genuine commitment to every patient who walked through his doors.
Although Dr. Flanagan is no longer seeing patients, his legacy lives on through the practice he built and the relationships he established with countless families over the years.
A Heartfelt Thank You
As Dr. Flanagan announced his retirement, he shared his sincere gratitude with the patients and families who made his career so meaningful.
“I am forever grateful for the trust and confidence you have given to me and my staff over the last thirty years. It has been a privilege and an honor to be part of your families and your lives while providing your orthodontic care. It is not something I have ever taken lightly.”

When it came time to retire, Dr. Flanagan carefully searched for the right orthodontists to continue caring for his patients. His priority was finding doctors who shared his commitment to exceptional patient care, treated their team like family, and created a welcoming environment for every patient.
That search led him to Dr. Bob Nudera and Dr. Jim Nudera, who assumed leadership of the practice on January 1, 2026. Both are board-certified orthodontists with decades of experience and a shared dedication to providing outstanding orthodontic care.
While Dr. Flanagan remained involved during the transition in an advisory role, he expressed complete confidence that patients would continue receiving the same level of personalized care they had always experienced.
Dr. Flanagan’s Education
Dr. Flanagan earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the Loyola University School of Dentistry, where he graduated as the valedictorian of his class and received numerous academic honors.
He continued his education at the Marquette University School of Dentistry, earning a Master of Science in Orthodontics. During his residency, he was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society in recognition of his academic excellence.

A Lasting Legacy
Dr. Flanagan’s greatest accomplishment has never been measured by the number of smiles he created, but by the lasting relationships he built with the families he served. His commitment to treating every patient with kindness, honesty, and respect helped shape the practice into what it is today.
As he shared in his retirement announcement:
“I will be forever grateful for having had the pleasure of knowing so many wonderful patients and families. We are not going anywhere, so if you see me around town, don’t hesitate to say hello.”
